Where Should True North Dreamin’ Go in 2028?

We may still be more than seven months away from TND27, but anyone who has helped organize a community conference knows that it’s never too early to start thinking ahead.

And we’re already thinking about TND28.

True North Dreamin’ has moved around over the years. Our first event was held in Ottawa/Gatineau in 2019, we brought TND back in Vancouver in 2025, and Toronto is hosting us in both 2026 and 2027.

For 2028, we’d like to explore somewhere new.

Where Could We Go?

From an organizer perspective, Calgary and Halifax are currently high on our list, with Winnipeg another location we’d like to explore. Montreal may also be a possibility (only if Montreal Dreamin’ isn’t returning).

But this is a community-led conference, and before we start narrowing down locations, we want to hear from you.

Where would you like to see TND28?

We’ve put together a short survey asking for your first few choices, whether you would actually consider attending TND in that location, and whether you might be willing to help us with some local knowledge if TND came to your community.

This is not a vote, and the city with the most responses won’t automatically become our TND28 destination. There are plenty of practical things we’ll eventually need to consider, including suitable venues, costs, travel accessibility and having enough support on the ground to make the event work.

But knowing where there is both interest and local community support will help us decide where to start looking.

Take the TND28 Location Survey
The survey will remain open until September 27, 2026

Have another Canadian city in mind? There’s room for that too.

We’d love to hear what you think.

And while we look ahead to 2028, planning for TND27 is already well underway. We’ll be back at the Toronto Airport Marriott on April 6–7, 2027, and there will be lots more to share over the coming months.

See you in Toronto in 2027 — and somewhere completely different the year after!
