BOARD MEMBER APPLICATIONS
FOR 2025-2026 

 

We are seeking passionate and dedicated volunteer board members to continue the work and commitment of our current board.

True North Dreamin' Inc is a not-for-profit corporation registered with the Government of Canada. While Board members are volunteers and not paid, being a board member is still considered a job, and should be treated as such. Please consider you commitment thoughtfully and seriously. If you cannot make the commitment as a board member, there are other ways that you can continue to help with True North Dreamin'.  Be honest with yourself so you can be honest with us. 

True North Dreamin’ Board Member Application Timeline

  • New board member applications: May 21 – June 6, 2025

  • Interview potential new board members: June 7 – 16, 2025

  • Selection and notification of new board members: June 17 – 20, 2025


GENERAL BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES

Board Commitment (2-year term):

  • Attend 1 Board meeting per month

  • Provide monthly written and/or financial (income/expense) reports for your committee

  • Expectation of commitment to 1-2 hours per week, 4-12 hours per week for the 3 months leading up to the event

  • Complete necessary work outside of scheduled meetings as needed

Committee Commitment as a Board Member

  • Participate in 1–4 full organising committee meetings per month (weekly starting 4 months before the event)

  • Attend 2–4 individual committee meetings per month, depending on your committee

  • Serve as chair for no more than one committee, but may responsible for reporting on up to two committees

Event Commitment as a Board Member

  • Be present at True North Dreamin' event, including half a day before for pre-event tasks and time after for post-event tasks, cleanup, and debrief

  • Follow the True North Dreamin' organiser's dress code


Board members are:

  • responsible, and potentially liable, for the programs, services and financial commitments of the organization

  • act as trustees of the organization's assets and must exercise due diligence and oversight to ensure that the organization is well-managed and that its financial situation remains sound

NOTE: As a board member, your contact information will be shared with various financial platforms and registered with the Government of Canada as part of our organization’s corporate registration.
